Based in Gorham and serving the Lakes Region of Maine, Sampson Lawn Care is owned and operated by Scott and Corinne Sampson, who have grown the business over the past decade through expertise, attention to detail, reliable service, and plenty of hard work.

Services offered for residential and commercial locations include almost anything to do with lawns. They perform mowing, fertilizing, aerating and overseeding, spring and fall cleanups, lawn installs, repairs, and restorations, bed installations, mulching, de-thatching, and hedge trimming. Soil testing and consulting services are available as well, and they can deliver local materials as needed. During winter months, Sampson Lawn Care handles plowing and snow removal for driveways, private roads, and commercial properties.

“We are a one-stop shop all year-round,” said Scott Sampson. “Mowing, fertilizing, and plowing are our most sought-after services. A lot of other landscaping companies offer hardscaping in addition to their lawn services, but we chose fertilizing. It’s an area of expertise that takes time to learn the material and obtain your license with the state. There are other fertilizing companies sure, but they generally specialize in treatment, and don’t offer everything else that we do. We can care for your lawn fully from install, to mowing and maintenance, to treating any turf issues. You don’t have to pay and coordinate three separate companies for your yard each summer, we can take care of it all.”

Scott launched the business after he did a cleanup for a realtor. That turned into a recurring service, which turned into multiple customers, and eventually into a full-time business.

Pricing for Sampson Lawn Care is always fair and affordable.

“We are never going to be the cheapest around, but we aren’t the most expensive either,” Sampson said. “We don’t strive to be the lowest price. We strive to offer the best quality. The amount of referral business we get speaks for itself.”

Proud to be a veteran-owned business, Sampson Lawn Care is dedicated to quality work and quality service in every job it takes on.

“The number of new customers that we receive that mention they saw we were veteran-owned, whether they saw it in an ad or on the trucks, is very high,” Sampson said.

Corinne Sampson says the company receives many new customers based upon referrals or from those who’ve seen work performed by Sampson Lawn Care crews.

“I think that speaks for itself,” she said. “Scott started this business as a solo operator on the side of his full-time job because he enjoyed it and has always been a hard worker. Having served in the Marines he has a very high bar set in everything he does. You don’t do anything halfway, in anything you do you should do it to a level you are proud of. I think one of the things we can be most proud of is our ability to grow organically. We have maintained growth, but haven’t hired people just to have people to do the work. We have maintained Scott’s original level of quality, which is a high bar. We have an incredible team, and we have really prioritized that in our growth. We hire the right people who care to do a good job, and who work well as a team. We definitely have a team culture here that encourages people to stick around. We get a lot of positive feedback on our work, but we also get a lot of positive feedback on our crew, and that’s something to be proud of.” 

She said community involvement is also an important aspect of Sampson Lawn Care.

“When you support our business, you are supporting your neighbors,” said Corinne Sampson. “We are family owned and our kids are fifth generation here in Gorham. We were excited to have grown to the point where we hired two Gorham High School students for the first time last summer who both came back this year. We are involved in the local parades and the youth sports. We stand by our work and our community.”
